Aabenraa has no train station itself, therefore if arriving by train, your destination could be:
1. The town of Rødekro (Roedekro in German). Rødekro station is about 3 hours north of Hamburg and 3 hours from Copenhagen by train. There are good train connections from Hamburg and Copenhagen to Rødekro. From the train station in Rødekro there are public buses leaving for Aabenraa, a 15 min. bus ride (bus no. 22 and it costs about 30.00 DKK for a one-way ticket). With the enclosed map, you should easily be able to find your way from the bus station in Aabenraa to Højskolen Østersøen.
2. Padborg (German: Pattburg) is a Danish border town, 1 hour away from Aabenraa. Take the bus no. 220. Ticket price: approx. 50 DKK for a one-way ticket.
3. Flensburg (Danish: Flensborg) is a town in the north of Germany. It takes approximately 1 hour by bus. Note that you have to change bus once if arriving from Flensburg. Firstly, take the bus no. 110 and in Kruså take bus no. 220. Ticket price: approx. 60 DKK for a one-way ticket.
For further information about train schedules go to www.db.de (German Railways) or www.dsb.dk(Danish Railway).
From the highway
On highway E45 take the exit 70 (Aabenraa N, Rødekro). Continue through the roundabouts towards Aabenraa (follow the signposts). After about four km turn right in the T-shaped cross (at the lights) – towards Flensborg. Continue on this road for about two km along the harbor and beach. Højskolen Østersøen is situated by the beach on your right hand of the road, just outside the city sign.
